Strangers have no reason to flatter you, so the answers are refreshingly honest.

Watching two strangers discuss a silly question is surprisingly fun.

  • No pressure to talk

Too shy to chat? As the asker you only watch, so there is nothing to say.

  • Practise a language

Answer questions in the language you are learning, or watch how natives phrase things.

About spy mode

What was Omegle spy mode, and how does it work here?

Spy mode was one of Omegle’s most loved features. Instead of chatting yourself, you typed a question and watched two strangers discuss it. It was part social experiment, part entertainment, and a brilliant way to get two honest opinions on anything.

TalkKiwi brings it back as question mode. You choose to ask or to answer. Askers write a question and watch the conversation live; answerers are paired with one random stranger to discuss it. Unlike the old version, answerers are always told that someone asked the question and is watching, so everyone knows exactly what is happening.

It is free, anonymous and moderated like the rest of TalkKiwi. Text is filtered for abuse, guests cannot send links, every chat can be reported to human moderators, and everyone must be 18 or older.

  • Anonymous asking

Askers stay anonymous. The strangers only see your question, never who you are.

  • Shown only as “Stranger”

Answerers appear as Stranger 1 and Stranger 2. No names, no emails.

  • Chats deleted after 30 minutes

Text is deleted 30 minutes after a chat ends, unless someone reports it.

  • Transparent watching

Answerers are told someone is watching, so nobody is spied on without knowing.

Safety

Safe, moderated spy mode

Question mode is protected like every chat on TalkKiwi: filters, a bot check, human moderators and strict 18+ rules.

  • Banned-words filter

Messages are checked automatically and abusive words are blocked.

  • Links blocked for guests

Guests cannot send links, which stops most spam and scams.

  • Report in one tap

Every chat has a Report button. Reports are reviewed by real people.

  • Strictly 18+

Question mode is for adults only. Anyone underage is removed.

  • No bots

A quick human check keeps bots and spam out of your conversations.

  • Bans that stick

Rule breakers are banned by account and device.

  • Leave any time

Answerers can press Next to leave a chat, and askers can ask again instantly.

  • Clear community rules

Tips

How to ask a great question

A good question gets a great discussion. Keep it under 200 characters and try these tips.

  • Ask open questions

“Why” and “what would you do” questions get longer, better discussions than yes-or-no ones.

  • Keep it light to start

Fun questions get the conversation going. Save the deep ones for later.

  • Pick a friendly debate

Two sides make great conversations, as long as the topic stays respectful.

  • Ask about the world

Strangers from different countries love comparing how things work where they live.

  • Never ask for personal details

Questions asking for names, addresses or social media break the rules.

  • Report rule breakers

If a discussion turns nasty, report it and ask a new question.
